But, to many, these words are something else...confusing techno jargon that revolve in the world of Search Engine Optimization.
Would it surprise you to know that Search Engine Optimization is just another form of marketing? Yep, that's it. It's no different that you placing a killer yellow page ad, or writing the most dynamic newspaper advertisement that will hit this Sunday’s newspaper stands.
Marketing...Search Engine Optimization? What?
You see, millions of people use the Search Engines everyday to search for products and services. They have learned that they can get a ton of research done from the comfort of their own homes without ever having to deal with a salesperson or take the time to drive from location to location to obtain some simple information.
So, now we have a choice to make. When these individuals are using these search engines, do we want them to find us?
Let's do a little exercise. Right now, open up a browser on your computer...doesn't matter which one...and type in a "search term" that you think a prospect might type in if they were looking for a product or service in your area.
So, let's say you are a CPA in San Diego, California. Hmmm...what would a prospect enter into the search engine? How about "Accounting Services San Diego", or "CPA in San Diego". So, apply that to your company.and enter that search term. Now, I want you to find your company in the results that are displayed.
So, are you on the first page? No, ok...let's go to the second page. No...not there either...ok...let's go to the third page. Not their...sheesh...where the heck is your website.
Would it surprise you to know that 90% of the people that use the internet to not venture beyond the first page? So, if you have any chance of obtaining this "FREE" traffic, you need to do some things to be able to attract these searches.
Although technical in nature, Search Engine Optimization is still Marketing. And if you ask me...it is one of the best forms of Marketing!
